We got in some really good wreck hunting last Saturday and I must say that False Bay was super flat!! We managed to find 1 out of 3 targets, so keep watching this space in the nearby future for our plans to dive this new wreck…Conditions this weekend are not looking great, so we have decided to rather take a break, although if you hurry on Saturday morning you may be able to squeeze a quick dive in. We are however planning on launching on Wednesday, as it is a public holiday, so sms’s will be sent to those on the list closer to the time. |

We are planning some wreck hunting this weekend, so we may have some new wrecks for you soon. Other than that, it’s a little deco in Smits on Sunday followed by a tech dive on the SATS General Botha (55msw) soon to keep us busy. Keep watching this space for details. |

Hi all Although we did not launch last weekend, the conditions were pretty good in false bay, with flat seas and good viz. We are hoping for much the same this weekend, with Sunday looking better than the Saturday launches. Note that for the winter dives, our first launch will be at 9h00. See you at the slip. |

SUNDAY DIVES: We had planned some dives as per usual for this last Sunday, but received a lot of opposition, as all the other operators were predicting doom and gloom. My synopsis of the forecast was a lot more optimistic, as the swell and wind was clearly dropping from Friday evening. We arrived at Millers, only to be met with a fairly strong and cold SE – things initially were not good... As the sun came up however, we soon realised that the water had a cool blue colour to it and that the viz was looking good. We sped out of Smits and when putting the shot line in, saw it for many metres down. Now things were really looking up!We were not disappointed. We had approximately 8 – 10m viz on the TRANSVAAL and the water was a balmy 15C. The wreck was inundated with fish and light and it made for an awesome dive. From the safety stop you could even make out the feint outline of the wreck!!!!Our second dive was to “Mystery Reef”. We had initially planned to dive Insanity Reef or Stern Reef, however with the slight onshore wind, we opted for CARAVAN REEF. I think that due to its close proximity it is often overlooked by most divers, but again we were in for a surprise. As the reef is shallower than the first dive, the light levels were even higher and we got a solid 10 m viz. Even at 21m looking up, you got the impression that you were in a swimming pool. The water had a really nice blue colour, which is quite unique. The fish life was also fantastic – massive schools of lots of different types of fish. Also some really large Red Roman and Jan Bruin. For those of you that stuck it out and dived with us on Sunday, well done. It was certainly False Bay diving at it’s best. |

Hi all. Apologies for the delay in updating the dive plans for this weekend, however there has been quite a lot happening after the birth of our son, which has necessitated many a visit to the hospital. All is finally well however and we expect him home this weekend. The result of this is that I have decided not to launch this weekend, but we will be back up to speed next weekend. The weather is also not looking great for Sunday, so maybe it is just as well. |
