Remarks Whilst transferring an anchor chain of a cargo vessel, the chain snagged and the weight of the chain threw her balance out which caused her to capsize. She sank within minutes. Eight crew members lost their lives. She lies on her starboard beam and is very intact – rigging and mast still in place.

Remarks From ’61 – ’63 served as a moored training ship in Simons Bay. Identical to SAS Pietermaritzberg, except far more intact. Good penetrations possible. Seldom dived on.

Remarks Historically a very important vessel for the SA Navy as she served as a training ship for many years. Fearing possible enemy attacks she was scuttled by shore batteries. She sits perfectly upright and her ram-shaped bows until her mid-ships are intact. Her stern is however very broken up.
